Gurdev Narain Educational Trust (GNET) is a premier Charitable Trust which was founded in 2006 with a vision of highly committed revolutionize concept of Quality Teaching through Charity. The Vision, Goals and objectives of GNET have been shaped to create aspirations and prepare the underprivileged students of the weaker society for a good academic career and to lead a life with confidence and courage.

At "GNET" were originally conceived as gateway to meet the Information and Communication, Training and Capacity Building, Networking and sharing needs of local communities, groups and community-based organizations that are keen to undertake sustainable development initiatives and is gradually building its institutional base and management capacity, consolidating and refining its programs and finding its niche in the local, state and National development communities and contexts.

History and Progress

GNET was built as a core team of committed Executive Committee members and staff members who collectively had extensive experience in rural and social development in Society. Most of the founding members worked voluntarily or in a semi-voluntary capacity for the first 2 years. Their common commitment was to create a local organisation that would provide the information, linkages, visits, training and technical and moral support especially to downtrodden sections of society. The past two years have been involved in building the structures, capacity and community confidence to make that happen.

Initially A range of small grants financed the Trust in gradual equipping the establishment and carrying out its essential operating foundation activities and launching its pilot projects across the country through various arms of the organization.

To start with, GNET carried out its operations through borrowed spaces which, in fact were extremely small and under-resourced donated offices. For the last two years the GNET has been operating from a rented place converted into an office and training centre. As the staff and the services have outgrown these facilities, a larger and more accessible premises, located in the East Delhi has been established to meet with the requirements to run Current programes.

Strategically located in the heart of East Delhi:

Our training Centre is located east of Delhi. Patpar Ganj is one of the few developed colonies in East Delhi. The area has been divided into two parts. One include residential Apartments while other is the Industrial area with the advent of several branded retail outlets and markets. It has slowly developed into a commercial centre.

From a hair pin to a Car one can find almost everything here. The area is among the best planned areas of East Delhi. The area was developed by Delhi Development Authority which is playing a major role in making this place grow. The DDA has developed many Group Housing Schemes. In totality, Patpar Ganj is emerging as business hub.

Here roads are well laid and connected to different part of the city. The area is well linked with other places of Delhi like, CP, Nehru Place, ISBT, old and New Railway Station and Metro rail network. It has in its vicinity places like Noida, Preet Vihar and upcoming well planned colonies situated at the Delhi-Ghaziabad border.

Due to its strategic location it has emerged into a Business Hub; hence has become place of first choice for tourists and business community resulting in grooming of Hotels and hospitality Industry. Apart from having 5 star hotels at a walking distance, numerous restaurants and guest houses, middle level hotels are mushrooming in the area as it has conducive atmosphere to hospitality industry.

On one hand places like Akshardham attracts lakhs of tourist from all over the world and on the other hand lakhs of business folk visit this area giving rise to more and more demand for star hotels, guest houses and restaurants.

Current Programes and capacity

GNET is gradually building its institutional base and management capacity, consolidating and refining its programes and finding its niche in the local, state and National development communities and contexts. GNET has now emerged as Centre for providing information services that are in great demand now days.
